Zoomlion sugarcane harvesters donated by Hunan Province to the Dominican Republic arrived in the country in April 2021. At the handover ceremony, Sui Zhongcheng, Vice Governor of Hunan Province, Xiong Yanming, Vice President of Zoomlion, Chairman and CEO of Zoomlion Agricultural Machinery and other officials attended the ceremony via video, together with Mejía, Minister of Agriculture Cruz, former Dominican President, Zhang Run, Chinese Ambassador to The Dominican Republic, and others.

On January 20 this year, Hunan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and The International Cooperation Department of the Dominican Ministry of Agriculture jointly signed the memorandum of Agricultural Cooperation. Zoomlion Agriculture Machinery Co., Ltd. and the Dominican Ministry of Agriculture signed the sugarcane harvester donation agreement. This donation is to carry out one of the agricultural cooperation agreements reached between the two sides.

Sui Zhongcheng said that Hunan and Dominica have maintained close exchanges since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Dominica more than two years ago. The handover of sugarcane harvesters will inject new impetus into bilateral cooperation at a higher level. He hoped that Hunan and Dominica will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in agriculture, economy and trade, culture, education, tourism and other fields so that the cooperation between the two sides can be expanded and the friendship between them can be further enhanced.

Cruz thanked Hunan for its kind donation. Sugarcane is one of Dominica's major crops, he said, and the donated sugarcane harvesters will help improve harvesting automation and contribute to the Dominican agricultural technology innovation. It is believed that through this cooperation, the brotherly friendship between the two countries will be further deepened and the cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Hunan will be further advanced.
